As long as you follow the convention properly, you can even include "TV shows" or Movies which aren't in any media database like concerts you've filmed or (in my case) music lesson DVD I structured as a TV show. Speaking from experience, if you are unflinchingly rigid in following these naming conventions Plex just handles the rest automagically. Any deviation at all runs the risk of causing all kinds of wacky mis-matches. The key to Plex, whether we're talking video or audio is that you must be absolutely religious in following the Plex naming conventions for your media. Works in Music.app on my Apple stuff and iTunes on my gaming PC.īut I also use Plex, and don't have any issue. I use iTunes Match and it's pretty slick. I was considering to use the iTunes Server app on Synology since I use an iPhone and I'm planning to get a NAS this year, does anyone have any experience on that or even on Synology Audio Station or would reccomend me something else? Is there an easier way to do this automatically before I even start? and don't reply me Spotify pls! I am willing to get down on some chores, like I was used to with my video collection but my music library is way larger that my videos. While troubleshooting the situation I found this Reddit post with my exact problem and realized that I have to get some other software, Mp3tag, Music Braniz, or either buy Filebot to reorganize my music under specific folder hierarchy like I already do with my video collection. ![]() The tracks all have the correct ID tags but for some reason Plex is not picking it up automacitally and is merging a lot of songs together under a single artist or album. I still have my mp3 collection from back in the early 2000's that I could renew with some of the new stuff I'm listening to now. I happen to have a Plex pass, and started to play around with Plex Music and Plexamp on my phone only to realize it's a literal HELL to manage the mp3 IDs. When I found out later this music is not even on Spotify I realized the crime I've just done and I had to find some other way other than Spotify to manage my music including my hard copies. This thought triggered in me 2 months ago when moving back to my country, I was throwing away tons of garbage in my home and I found myself throwing away a lot of old music CDs. By setting things up directly inside your server, you can not only create customized playlists from your music with ease, you can set up collections that everyone with server access will be able to create their own playlists from in just two clicks, offering massive library customization for all of your server members.I've been contemplating for sometime now going back to my old way of keeping my music instead of paying a monthly subscription for spotify premium. The answer is surprisingly simple and comes about by setting things up in the main Plex web-app. ![]() The other problem is that because PlexAmp is just a client app, it doesn’t let you create playlists from inside the app that anyone with access to your server can see! If you want to share your cool music collection with your family, therefore, what are you supposed to do? ![]() Sure, you can create a playlist by manually clicking on each song and choosing “add to playlist”, but if you’re like me and have playlists featuring hundreds of songs that are already curated, then this feature just doesn’t make sense. The largest lag I’ve encountered with PlexAmp is the inability to easily create playlists from within the app. But, as with any app, it still needs work, and Plex’s development has always been a little laggy in odd ways. In the last couple of years, PlexAmp (Plex’s music-centered app that plays content stored in your Plex server) has become known as one of the go-to music clients out there, offering a modern and powerful app for your music collection needs. The one-time $100 fee to become a lifetime PlexPass member was absolutely worth it in terms of how many services I was able to compress into a single app. I have a massive media library that I’ve built over the years, and I wanted to be able to access it quickly and easily without having to pay out monthly fees.
